Brussels is the capital of the European Union. Most of our EU Institutions lie only blocks away from each other. At first sight the European quarter has not much to offer. Ryckevelde convinces you of the opposite and takes you along the buildings, history and future of this district.
Firstly, we tell you more about the history of the European quarter, paying attention to the architectural aspects of the buildings. You will also learn more about how it all happened and what the future plans are for this area. Secondly we talk about the institutions in these buildings. On request, we give extra explanation on how the institutions function and which role they play in the European decision making process.
TIP: It's well worth paying a visit to the new visitors' centre of the European Parliament - the Parlamentarium - before or after the walk.
